Media facilities

As part of our service offering to eligible SMEs, we have various hardware and software that can be used to facilitate the development of your innovative digital product, process or service.

media recording & Editing

Sound recording & Editing

If you wish to record and edit audio then you can do so in our media studio using our equipment.

We advocate the use of Audacity for the editing of recordings and so eligible SMEs are welcome to come and make use of it within our studio.

Video RECORDING & editing

If you wish to record and edit video then you can do so in our media studio using our equipment.

We advocate the use of free video editing tools and so eligible SMEs are welcome to come and make use of cross platform tools such as OpenShot, HitFilm Express or the Mac exclusive iMovie within our studio.

360° Virtual Tours

If you would like to create a 360° Virtual Tour then you can use our Kodak Orbit 360° camera and Google Tour Creator.

Cameras can be loaned out to eligible businesses, who are already fully trained in the use of the equipment, from the Digital Solutions Project Team at University Centre Shrewsbury.

Please note: We are unable to support businesses with the creation of 360° Virtual Tours.

Product Testing

Virtual Reality

If you are developing a Virtual Reality experience, but lack a VR headset to test it on, then you can come on site and use our HTC Vive to test out your product.

Augmented Reality

If you are developing an Augmented Reality experience, but lack an AR headset to test it on, then you can come on site and use our Microsoft Hololoens (v1).

Please note: We are unable to support businesses with the development of AR and VR applications.

Eligible SMEs will be permitted to use our Media facilities when:

  1. Its use forms part of the agreed support, that the Digital Solutions Project is providing to an SME, to assist in the development of their innovative digital product, process or service.
  2. A copy of the businesses ‘Indemnity and Liability insurance certificate’ has been provided to the Team and relevant project paperwork signed.

A booking in and out system will be in use, and a minimum of two days notice is required to book into the suite and use any equipment to enable us to ensure the relevant equipment is available.
